How does it work?

Client Contacts FMAS via Website, Telephone or Referral. We will arrange a call for a FREE 30-minute consultation to understand your legal needs, sector specialisms, areas of law and budget. We may request additional documentation. We then suggest carefully vetted and approved solicitors. You agree on terms with your choice of solicitor.

Step

02

You will need to sign a client care letter with the law firm directly. They will request anti money laundering documentation such as a copy of a passport, driving licence and utility bill within 3 months to enable them to open a file.

You will pay your legal fees directly to the law firm. You will never pay FMAS as we are a free service. We also will not interfere with your case once you have appointed the solicitor of your choice.

Legal Aid

Please note that most of our law firms do NOT do Legal Aid.

Legal aid can help meet the costs of legal advice, family mediation and representation in a court or tribunal if you can not afford to pay legal fees.

Most legal aid cases will be means tested; so, you will have to show that you cannot afford to pay legal costs. You will be required to give information about your income, benefits, savings, property and shares and those of your partner.

Once that the forms have been sent to the LAA, they will decide whether you are eligible for legal aid. This decision will normally take up to about 4 weeks, but it can take longer.
