Find Me a Barrister
There are over 17,500 barristers registered in England and Wales. Over a third do Direct Access. Our Find Me a Barrister service can connect you directly with them.
What is Direct Access?
Direct access (or public access) is a scheme which qualifies barristers to take instructions directly from a client, enabling you to instruct a barrister without first going through a solicitor.
The barrister’s role remains the same, meaning that they are qualified to:
- provide you with expert legal advice about the merits and potential outcomes of your case;
- assist you with drafting correspondence;
- draft formal court documents;
- offer you advice on the next steps to be taken in proceedings;
- assist you in trying to resolve your case; and
- represent you in court.
Barristers are remarkably cost-effective due to their low overheads. We have over 1000 direct access barristers on our panel. Many people who have instructed barristers directly have commented favourably regarding the cost of doing so. There is no duplication of work, therefore costs are not duplicated. Barristers’ fees are often up to 42% cheaper than solicitors’ fees.
Barristers are not able to undertake any ‘legal aid’ work under the direct access scheme, if you wish to instruct a barrister directly, you can do so on a privately funded basis.
If you need a barrister, we request that you send us all the documentation (case file) relating to the matter to enable the barrister to quote.
